The Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival is one of the headline events on the Lantern Festival calendar, along with the Yanshui Beehive Fireworks Festival and Taiwan Lantern Festival. During this time, crowds flock to the New Taipei City district of Pingxi to release lanterns bearing blessings to the heavens. The slowly ascending lanterns dot the night sky with their captivating orange glow. The Pingxi Sky Lantern Festival has been heralded as one of the world's must-experience events by the Discovery Channel, National Geographic Magazine, CNN, and other international media outlets.
